Chioniso is an artist that has started nearly a year ago and she has not only grown but she has managed to shine her own light whilst discovering who she is as an artist and a person. In addition, having worked with cottage 47 on her offering ' Heaven Is Closer Than You Know' EP which was well received and it is a body of work that is appreciated by the people she has inspired. She is starting to understand that is more than talent that is needed in a cut throat indsutry, connections and major marketing is needed to further ones musical career. Her specific sound is inspired by a lot of old-school RnB music the era between the 80s and the 90s. Artists such as Brandy, Monica, Aaliyah and destiny's child. Without forgetting Tracy Chapman, Fleetwood Mac, and Journey. In the early 2000s as the music started to evolve so did her music tastes change, her ears started being drawn to Betty Makaya, Plaxedes Wenyika , Roki and Leonard Mapfumo to name a few. From being honored with a SANDO award and being awarded a financial sponsorship by One Time records for three months, it is a sign that she is heading the right direction. All of the music and the opportunities that came from a lockdown which allowed to explore her talents she will never take for granted. Her desire is to have Zimbabwean artists to be recognized for their talent, and also she would love to pursue music and make it a full career. I believe she is a kinder spirit with her music, and we should support her and stream all her music.
