Tac0o is an upcoming rapper from Newark, New Jersey who is also part of the hip-hop collective known as Rap Villain. His 2019 single, “Croak” has been gaining traction till now and he still feeds his fans with freestyles regularly. He also dropped one of the best features this year on the Nick Straight track “City of Hell”. We talked about his influences, his goals and his upcoming project.
Grey: What got you into hip-hop?
Tac0o: I was always rapping and putting words together at a young age (around when I was 8 years old). I met Alley Rocket when I was 16 and he’s the one who inspired me and gave me that drive that I can accomplish all the goals I put in front of myself
Grey: What are your goals? Both short term and long term
Tac0o: For short term, I want to build a true fan base and have successful releases. For long term, I want to have an impact in the world with my music and I want to influence others just like me to achieve whatever they believe is possible no matter the hand they’re dealt
Grey: How would you describe your style of music?
Tac0o: I would describe it as raw and uncut. I treat my music like therapy so if you listening, you could tell how I’m feeling or how some shit made me feel
Grey: What’s your creative process like?
Tac0o: I just be tryna clear my head when I’m cooking. Like I said I treat this music like therapy. Most of the time, I’m alone making music and I try not to overthink. The homies are the first one to hear whatever I cooked up and 8/10 times they be loving my shit. At the same time, I know there’s room for improvement so I’m never content
Grey: You’ve hinted at dropping a project called “The Preseason”. Can you tell me more about that?
Tac0o: Lmao. The Preseason was something to grab everyone’s attention. The plan was to rap on some legendary hip-hop beats and show my skill off. Really grab everyone’s attention and let them know I’m different and there’s no one coming how I’m coming
Grey: Who are your biggest musical influences?
Tac0o: I would have to say Lil Wayne, J Cole, Alley Rocket, 50 Cent and Chief Keef
Grey: What are your dream collaborations?
Tac0o: Anyone one of them that I listed above. It’s an honor to get to work with Rocket already. Ill also like to work with T-Pain. That’ll be a hit fasho. G Herbo too, he was an influence on me as well
Grey: What’s next for Tac0o right now? Are you going to keep on dropping freestyles for now or should fans expect a new track in the near future?
Tac0o: You can expect something NEW. The freestyles are done for now as I’m transitioning into the Biggest Outlaw. I’m excited for what I got coming next
