In South Africa we have seen a rise in a lot young people creating their own apparel brands, which speaks to the influence of fashion trends. In addition, the more brands that are being formed, the more we realize that the market is capable of catering to the youth. The fashion brand I want to mention, is not only a fashion brand but an art gallery itself. Whoisclothes is a young brand which makes use of anime illustrations to catch your eye. Wandile Mahlangu, the brand owner initially was an artist, and when he started the brand he simply printed a t-shirt for his friend and had an epiphany that there is potential in his work. He strongly believes that with his brand and platform he can allow artists to showcase their art and create a space for collaborations and connections. I personally believe that Whoisclothes is very unique in a sense that it uses anime illustrations which not a lot of brands are doing, and it also highlights the fact that Japanese street fashion is actually prevalent in SA. Definitely a brand to look out for if you a street fashion influencer or a simple nerdy soul. All his pieces leave a beautiful story tell about his brand and its humble beginnings.
Below are pictures of his art:
Extraordinary art pieces by Whoseisclothes. Simply brilliant.
